The purpose of this blog is for me to share my thoughts on risk management in IT projects.
Most of my career has been spent delivering Trading and Risk Management systems to the front office of various investment banks. Investment Banks have a risk management culture. Pretty much every sentence someone utters contains the word “risk”. Risk is less a focus and more an obsession in the banks. As a result, many project managers in Investment Banks approach IT projects from a risk perspective.
There are many types of risk on an IT project. From my perspective, the dominant one is that of the Business Investor, the “person” who is paying for the software to in order to receive some specified return.
